Hey you hows tricks Well the momentous day arrived last friday. After an enormous effort and a not inconsiderable amount of cash, the south west was finally reconnected with the outside world as Dawlish was repaired. The line through Devon is beautiful in the summer, the trains passing on a sea wall giving great views of Exmouth and its estuary, followed by several seaside towns, Starcross Dawlish Teignmouth then inland to Newton Abbot. The price for this is that in the winter the storms play havoc with the timetable, this year the line was destroyed at Dawlish and remained out of use for 2 months. See some video here, plenty more on YT. Have to say Ive been railway building myself recently, have some pics to share soon. Catch ya later..

Hey you - happy christmas hope you have a great time and get loads of pleasure from this time of "being nice to each other". On the trains front this week has been a bit of a washout literally, as storms thrash Britain the rail network has struggled, certainly in the south where I am, with XC virtually giving up and practically retreating to the core Bristol Birmingham. I was free to go travelling on xmas eve but wasnt sure it was a good idea to be honest. TRAINZ wise Ive been playing a lot instead of building, although I have a few pics to show ya, a new layout using 1500 dc electrics, a narrow gauge with festiniog stock to name to Anyhoo heres some pics, have a good one y'all! Shoot the imposter!!! OW! No --- he's the imposter!!! Its ok, its just me messing about with Blogger, you can relax, (what do you mean "you had anyway"?) Looks nice in nearly BR Blue with a touch of green in it. What I will do is put pics on that site that aren't on this, of layouts that aren't on this, except for the first one which is Chester Division. At the moment the address is TRAINZUK.BLOGSPOT.COM Note no dash between Trainz and UK So now you're upto date! Hey You...hows tricks? Funny how it goes with Trainz isnt it, Had a little time off Trainz whilst work was busy and also, the AI started to irritate me on my "BEDPAN " layout..how difficult can it be to drive to platform 1 and load? Yes I know its a computer and you get out what you put in and all that jazz, but Ive been doing this for a while and theres something not quite right in that AI. It struggles if theres a complicated station throat, (probably I'm signalling it wrong) but that doesnt mean it cant find platform 1 if I set one of the points manually...Anyhoo rant over, Im back on board now, and several part layouts have been produced this month. Did I mention my Merseyrail attempt, a fictitious emu based rapid fire suburban with a scouse accent, looks well, then I thought of the N2 and Gresley coaches, change the signals remove the 3rd rail and Hounds Green was born. Think about Clapham Junction, well its a smaller version, sat in north London between KX and StP so we get Midland and Eastern trains And that looks,... well,...weller, in fact. Trying to make it atmospheric Ive set the time to 1730 so it starts to go dark and I selected "cloudy" but not raining because the rain is a little invasive. New rant!! What is it with lights on the front of locos, yeah ok diesels, even markers on steamers, but some of them are the equivalent of full beam halogens, You see a train coming out of a tunnel and half the layout is awash in "light"..IS THERE A WAY OF SWITCHING THAT OFF? Never mind its not that big a deal... Have some pics and I will catch ya later.. Hey you, hows it going.. Added a new layout, this one came about because of the new Southern EMU's on the download station, and it turns out that there is quite a lot of pre BR Southern stock and Locos around when you search. Unlike the LMS or LNER where its difficult to depict a full picture of the railway...Usually its the coaching stock availability that is the problem. Anyhoo, look at this new layout -- "Sycamore's End" and feel the fast new clean swish suburban electric service that's world class, brought to you by YOUR Southern Railway. What hadn't occurred to me is that I don't have a slot for pre nationalisation layouts in my menu system, well not yet anyway!! Happy Easter everyone, catch ya later..... NXEA 322 arrives at Meldon Circus change here for the Circle Line Hey you! Ive done some "remodelling" work over the holiday period, added a couple of layouts then found that my layouts page was looking cumbersome, So now they're divided into era, then listed on the era page. Fascinating, yeah...........I can see you falling asleep as you read this! New layouts: Inner Suburban, which is a maze of suburban tracks based in London, many train companies sharing these lines as they find a way to their respective termini. Extremely busy, and probably the only part of London where SWT 158 and NXEA322 serve the same station Carstairs: On the West Coast mainline in Scotland, this was operationally interesting in the 1970 and 80s. Junction for Edinburgh with a reversal departure and diesel substitution required, a very hands on layout where AI brings trains to the station, I sort them then AI takes them away again. A new gallery for screenshots of layouts without a page has been added, these have shots of a private railway for tourists with log trade for the bank balance, my Polish Czech layout and a few others. Extra pics in Salford West also. EM1 waits for 14.00 to depart to Sheffield with the Harwich Boat Train June 21 1965. (Hopefully by 1400 the catenary will be up, otherwise there may be a slight delay) Thought this was supposed to get easier!! Anyway, Happy New Year to all my readers. Turns out, if Google Analytics is to be believed you're a very small but perfectly formed, select crowd, well, not enough for a crowd, maybe we could hire a phone box and have a party! Happy new year to you anyway. Had a good one myself, lots of train rides, most of then terminating at Taunton, but diverted around Newport and Gloucester, so swings and roundabouts, what you lose on the Westbury route, you make up for by going via Bristol. If you're a bus fan then weh--hey!!!!! Xmas come early, well, xmas at xmas. I'm not a great bus fan, though I can see what people see in them. Been a busy time what with work and travel, but done plenty on Trainz. Next job to update site to show off the updates.
Layouts of the moment are Sedgewick, a system rather han a line, Northern/Central based largely electrified with Virgin providing the grey, and a venture into Europe, actually started off wanting to do american box car long trains single lines etc etc, but somehow that translated into Polish Czech industrial freight mixed with suburban. Nice to have a change, some of the foreign stuff is well done, with its rust patches wobbly cabs as you go over points etc Been a bit of a challenge on the real trains down here, Exeter flooded again, landslips near Bristol, Diversions via Gloucester and Newport to Bristol. Westbury - Taunton shut for a while Makes for some interesting journeys if you have the day off! I have to say I havent quite worked out everything on this website yet, and the obvious way to enable comments is to set up a blog?? It doesn't seem to be able to take comments on the individual photos, which is what I wanted. The first attempt was on a free site from webs and that did, but the capacity of the site was reached before I had even started loading up half the stuff I wanted to. So I'll ride with this, probably only a few people will even see this and they wont be bothered to comment anyway!!
